SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

This scholarship supports local high school seniors who are pursuing a post-secondary education in a healthcare field. Our goal is to encourage the next generation of compassionate, skilled professionals who will make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Wood River Dental Care Healthcare Vocational Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW

Award Amount: $1,000
 

Number of Awards: 1 recipient annually
 

Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors in the Wood River Valley
 

Fields of Study Supported: Any healthcare-related pathway, including dentistry, dental hygiene, medical assisting, nursing, pre-med, physical therapy, radiology, pharmacy, mental health services, and other approved healthcare programs.

Application Due: April 15, 2026

Recipient Announced: May 1, 2026

Funds Released: Upon proof of enrollment in a qualifying undergraduate program. Funds may be used for tuition, books, program fees, tools/equipment required for training, or other education-related expenses.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, applicants must:

1. Be a current high school senior attending a school in the Wood River Valley area.

2. Plan to enroll in a post-secondary healthcare program at a college, university, vocational school, or accredited training program.

3. Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

4. Demonstrate interest in a healthcare career through coursework, volunteer experience, job shadowing, or extracurricular involvement.

5.Submit a completed application by the deadline

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Students must submit the following:

1. Completed Scholarship Application FormIncludes basic information, school details, intended program, and contact information.

2.Personal Essay (500–750 words: Prompt options (applicant chooses ONE):

  • Why do you want to pursue a career in healthcare, and what impact do you hope to make?

  • Describe a moment or experience that inspired your interest in the healthcare field.

  • How do you plan to use your education to give back to your community?

3. One Letter of Recommendation: From a teacher, counselor, employer, or mentor who can speak to the applicant’s character, work ethic, and interest in healthcare.

4. Academic Transcript: Official or unofficial transcript showing GPA and coursework.

5. Optional: Supporting Materials: Any volunteer logs, certifications, awards, or program acceptances that strengthen the application.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The selection committee will evaluate applicants based on:

  • Commitment to pursuing a healthcare vocation

  • Clarity, thoughtfulness, and sincerity of personal essay

  • Academic performance and effort

  • Character, leadership, and service

  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare (volunteering, shadowing, etc.)
